When The Lights Are Out

from Dead Rituals II by Dead Rituals

/

about

I originally released a completely acoustic version of this track for an old project, but that recording never stood out to me. I decided to try and combine some ambient texture and a quasi-hip-hop drum beat to the acoustic arpeggios, just to try something new.

lyrics

When I see you
I fall and I cannot get up again
On the stone-cold ground in your nowhere town

Snowflakes fall in the frozen air
There’s a ghost in the walls but I just don’t care

When we’re alone and the lights are out
When we’re alone and the lights are out
I should have known better

When I am with you
I forget what it’s like to be alone
Let it all burn out till the smoke runs out

It takes you back to your barren rage
There’s a wolf in the room but I won’t get scared

When we’re alone and the lights are out
When you pull me close, then you cut me out

When we’re alone and the lights are out
When you pull me close, then you cut me out

I should have known better
